Imported

: I’m sorry, but I don’t understand why the Guardian imported Kos to blog the British election — and write lines like this: “Exit polls numbers have dominated the coverage of the election up until now, and it’s no wonder. It satiates our desire to get some metric of progress, and it helps fill the dead airtime between the polls closing and actual results.” [let’s all use “satiate” in a sentence] — when there are plenty of great Brit bloggers. No offense to Kos, but I’d rather hear another British voice.

Actually, I used “satiate” in a post this afternoon. Does that make me (raises pinky to mouth) EEEEVIIIIL??

Well let’s see…KOS is a foaming-at-the-mouth Leftist who hates Bush like my mom hates spiders. The Guradian is a a foaming-at-the-mouth Leftist newspaper who hates Bush like, well…you can figure out the rest.

Jeff – simple answer is having Kos over has nothing to do with the supply of “great Brit bloggers” – he’s been bringing us a fresh view of the political process here at a time when many Brits – and many Brit political blogs – are appearing bored and jaded by it. His stuff has gone down a storm.
But looking at the political blog scene here, there are some decent blogs, and they’re included in the sites we’ve been quoting and linking to through, among other methods, our blogwatch headline aggregator built into the Guardian Unlimited election blog front page.
That feature has proved very popular, but even that couldn’t – alas – help motivate many of our top political bloggers to stay up past their bedtimes to watch the results roll in last night. It’s fair to say UK political blogging’s in a different place to the US right now – maybe it’ll change now we have a tighter situation in parliament (after a genuinely exciting night of results). But I’m not holding my breath.

Hmm… so “you’d rather hear another British voice.”
And this Kos-blog is somehow preventing you from doing so?
I would have gone for: “Although the Guardian is providing a platform for Kos-blogging, the wonderous thing about the Internet is that I am free to ignore it completely — here’s where I’m getting my info, at … (insert name of Jarvis-prefered blog here)…”
Please note – I’m not a huge Kos fan, although I do like a lot of what he has to say. This part of the post just seemed like … oh … a personal shot, and I expect better from this ‘blog (and this blogger).
So if you’ve got a better alternative for British political blogging, Jeff, share it with us!

Kos is one of the more entertaining Greco-Panamanian bloggers currently posting on Guardian’s web site. Give credit where it’s due.
But they wanted an “American” to reinforce the Blair-as-Bush-lapdog fantasy they’re selling to the muesli-eaters of the UK.
