Spiers site is blogging at its best. When the Jordan story got enough links that it showed up at Daypop, I took an interest. I had not thought about it, and when I heard what Jordan was supposedly to have said, it seemed so obvious, it had to be true. Given the right wing blogs

Of course not, it’s the right wing blogging lynch mob headed by fake democrat liberal Jeff Jarvis. They are the ones responsible for Eason Jordan’s decision to resign. We couldn’t expect someone to be responsible for his own actions.

I didn’t say he was nobody. If he said what was alleged, then by all rights he should have been fired/resigned. But to this day, we’ve got no factual data that he said what is alleged.

You do have some very credible witnesses who were there. And then, you got Jordan himself saying that whatever it was that he said, it must have been misinterpreted. Meaning? He said something so completely out of line that he couldn’t stand by it. Apparantly, his bosses know what he said, because he’s no longer at CNN.
scout29 – you’re right on the money. Reporters need to be aware that combat is combat and people die. If they CHOOSE to cover these stories from such close proximity, then they are putting themselves at risk. The US, as do most countries and governments, will go to great lengths to protect journalists, however, there is always the fog of war. On the other hand, you have terrorists, who actually kidnap journalists. What are their intentions? I can assure everyone its not to protect them. Precisely why it makes me so angry when people make ridiculous, unsubstantiated charges against our soldiers. We are not them, and our actions are not like theirs.
