I HEARD YOUR SPOT ON AIR AMERICA THIS MORNING (MONDAY dEC.7)AND..WHILE I LIKED YOUR CHOICES OF IMPORTANT MOMENTS IN MEDIA 2004..I WOULD SUGGEST THE FOLLOWING..
1-THE HOWARD DEAD CAMPAIGN. THEY FLEW BELOW THE MEDIA RADAR..UNTIL THEY COLLECTED 14 MILLION DOLLARS..ONLY THEN DID THE NATIONAL MEDIA BEGIN TO PAY ATTENTION…SOMEHOW THEY COLLECTED ALL THIS MONEY WITHOUT STIRRING A RIPPLE ON THE MEDIA POND.
2–THE ABILITY TO RALLY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE TO ATTEND THE PREMIERE OF “FARENHEIT 911” ALL OVER THE COUNTRY..DISPITE SOME MOVIE CHAINS REFUSING TO SCREEN THE MOVIE.
3–AIR AMERICA RADIO. I’VE BEEN LISTENING SINCE THEY WENT ON THE AIR..AND THE MOST AMAZING THING ABOUT THE EFFORT..ARE THE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE CALLING IN FROM STATES..WHERE THERE IS *NO* RADIO OUTLET..ALL THESE FOLKS ARE LISTENING ON THE INTERNET.
AND WHAT DO ALL THESE EVENTS HAVE IN COMMON?
THE INTERNET. SO MY CONCLUSION IS THE SAME AS YOURS–ARRIVED BY A DIFFERENT PATH.
I DO BELIEVE YOU ARE ON TO SOMETHING..THE INTERNET IS ABOUT TO CHANGE JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING CONCERNING *BROADCASTING* -
Air America! Are they still on the air? Geez, did they “make it past the election”? Are the “hands of such incompetents” signing the checks for your weekly spots. Guess they must have actually gotten a few folks to advertise on that sinking ship, huh? Did they “go into and out of bancruptcy” yet? And did you happen to run into “Rush of the left” Randi Rhodes? You should call it the MediaWhore Report. You could really be talking about sumpthin’ ya know a lot about.
