Damn: Turning off the Torrent

Damn: Turning off the Torrent

: PaidContent says that two days after the MPAA went after BitTorrent sites, two of them — including the pivotal SuprNova.org — have shut down. Damnit. Not all the Torrents violate copyright but that baby is out with the bathwater.

I thought that bit amusing. The bit where Alan made the comment about religion being “the law now,” not so much. I thought liberals were the reality-based side of the spectrum; couldn’t prove it by comments like that. Generally Kelly is much much better at portraying both sides of an issue with equal sympathy/empathy/intelligence than this seems to demonstrate, unless his point was to demonstrate just how badly out-of-touch some liberals have gotten?
And what the hell is up with the ABC promos spoilering key plot twists on that show anyway?

This is just really unfortunate. Thankfully, there are still a handful of halfway decent torrent sites out there, but Suprnova was a gem. Forget about illegally downloading software, music, etc. I personally liked to download torrent files to watch TV shows that I had missed or forgotten to record, such as Star Trek: Enterprise or the newest episode of The Simpsons.
Throwing the baby out with the bathwater, indeed.
