Fairly decent coverage. Some about Jeff and his FOIA, but nothing about BuzzMachine.
Most of the coverage is not about the outrage, but the number of complaints.
Two representatives are speaking now. PTC is claiming they only submitted 21% of the complaints.
I am recording it (but don’t have the bandwidth to host, let me know if someone wants it).
Keith Olberman did a segment on the ‘complaint controversy’ too, which was pretty good. He had the guy on that wrote the piece for MediaWeek. I think this story about how the PTC is a right wing political group would have some legs if someone would really dig into it. I think Americans would be surprised to find out that all this outrage they’ve been hearing about ‘tv indecency’ is really to a large degree manufactured by a right wing group with a political agenda – they hate the ‘liberal’ mainstream media and see them as the enemy. Why the networks don’t do stories on this is beyond me… seems like it would be perfect for the News Magazines, 20/20, 60 Minutes, etc… Its in their own interest to do so; they’re wimps though I guess.
I dont know what to make of this tiff between the FCC and the PTC; I hope they’re turning on each other. BTW, I think Michael Powell is a liar – he knew all along where the complaints were coming from.
