The Daily Stern: morning after
: CNET writes about Stern’s shift to satellite and quotes me.
: Stern said this morning that he insisted on not charging an extra fee for his show. At XM, folks are going to pay more for the privilege of hearing Opie & Anthony.
A big problem Stern has is he aliented such a large percentage of his audience with his rancidly dumb and malignantly dishonest political rants these last seven or eight months (or however long it’s been) that that alone will be a deal killer when people contemplate paying $150 a year – $12.99 a month (for starters) – to listen to ‘Stern on satellite’.
(And if you think that’s not true – because you share Stern’s opinions and point-of-view in those political rants – just imagine having to listen to them if he was saying opinions and beliefs that you don’t believe or share, and saying them in such an intentional chain-yanking, nasty, dishonest manner. You’d pay to hear more of that?)
Ironically, on a further note, now it’s in his self-interest for the FCC to keep regular broadcast radio buttoned down.
