Atta boy

Atta boy

: Months ago, Jay Rosen urged media and campaigns to raze spin alley and now it’s happening as Jay praises the NYT’s Adam Nagourney for staying away from the spinsters; he’ll watch the debates on TV, just like the rest of us, just like a citizen.

I guess that that makes him a blogger (!).

Oh, goody! Now, instead of getting the spin from the candidates, we can get the spin from the NYTimes. I’m so excited!

If he’s just a citizen, are we going to have to read Nagourney’s unique perspectives on the debate in the NYT? What does he know that the rest of us don’t?

Spin Alley is where reporters go to be told what to think about something they’ve just watched.
To congratulate Adam what’s-his-name for staying out of Spin Alley — hell, to lionize him for doing so — is like congratulating him for washing his hands after he uses the bathroom, or for not hitting himself over the head with a baseball bat.
The news isn’t that he is staying away. The news is that he ever made a point of going there.
Also, it’s clear from any reading of Adam N.’s work that he’s deep in the tank for Kerry.
