When Brando picketed San Quentin to oppose the execution of Carl Chessman I swore I would never give him dime. I never did.

Fine, he wasn’t a genius, but even though he was an addled twit and an out-of-control narcissist, Brando made himself immortal. On the Waterfront is an astounding performance. It’s not for us to decide whether he deserves to be remembered; he’s going to be anyway. What a God… too bad he got fat, vain and dumb.

I don’t get it. he likes it when the actors own personality gets in the way of a perfomance?

Jeff, you’ve become obsessed with politics lately. What’s up?
I’m here for the meta-media stuff. One of the reasons I don’t go to Glenn Reynolds much anymore is that he’s become so “Decision 04” focused and, frankly, predictable. I wish Larry Lessig posted more frequently, then I could delete Instapundit.

You’re right, Jeff. Terry Teachout is obviously not a genius.

Er, what happened to the western tradition of focusing on the positive in obits?
