Blogphobic

: The Online News Association announced its rules for its awards this year. Last year, I was one of many who made fun of them for not awarding — that is, recognizing — weblogs. This year’s rules don’t recitify the misstep. Ostrich. Sand. Head.

: Forgot to mention (and Ken Layne inspired remembering) that you all should submit your weblogs to the contest. Flood them with great weblogs. And blog that you entered. And then we’ll see how enlightened they’ve become.

There’s not an exact blog category, but there’s this listed on the page you linked:
Online Commentary: This category honors a unique and powerful voice of commentary original to the Web. The commentary should display freshness of insight and clear writing. Creative use of the medium — especially in the areas of blogging and community journalism — will be considered. A writer’s entry may consist of up to three examples. (Print syndication after Web posting does not disqualify an entry.) Two prizes: Large sites (more than 500,000 unique visitors) and Small sites (fewer than 500,000 unique visitors)
Anyway, the whole “online news” idea is pretty 1997, don’t ya think?

Funny, I was about to post the very same thing as a comment! Guess someone beat me to it. I’m intrigued; it will be interesting to see who wins this category.

Oh, yeah, at $100 per entry, you just flood them…
Get over it. You ain’t gonna win, and don’t need daddy’s approval.
