Hmmmm
: It’s said that porn leads in every possible online arena, from subscriptions to video. But I haven’t seen anything about porn via RSS (not that I’ve been looking, mind you). What does that mean?

Well, I’d guess that it’s because porn isn’t a timely or frequently changing content. That said, feeds could potentially automate aggregator sites, which currently are manually programmed every day. Not that I’ve been looking, mind you.
There are many porn sites that feature daily content updates. It seems a natural fit for RSS technology to have such content delivered. Perhaps, then, since RSS hasn’t been utilized, its an indicator that RSS simply isn’t the cat’s meow.
Hey, are you bandie around Buzzword with pr0n to generate google hit :)
Re: mm
One thing to bear in mind that pr0n industry is nearly always the first to embrace technology that the rest of the entertainment industry catches up to. They’re the first to fully embrace VCR, Cable, DVD, Internet, etc. Hell, the first multi-angle DVD I’ve ever seen is a pr0n DVD.
“But I haven’t seen anything about porn via RSS…”
Well, now you have: http://www.fleshbot.com/straight.rdf
:o)
I think RSS is a bad for the internet porn budiness model. As I understand it (courtesy of some articles on Kuro5hin some time ago) most free porn sites make money out of web hits and referals to pay porn sites. In order to display all the advertising banners and generate the clickthroughs with the right attribution you really need the sucker to visit your website not juest subscribe to your RSS feed.
Then of course there is the fact that RSS doesn’t handle images and sounds very well (err at all?) and porn is all about pictures not about text.
I know it’s not really porn, but Suicide Girls really rocks the Technorati Top 100…
It’s a little amusing that you bring up ‘porn via RSS’ on the same day I plugged you as an ‘RSS evangelist’. ;)
Oh, now I love that line of thinking: RSS isn’t “the cat’s meow” because porn sites don’t use it. Yeah, that’s it. Because without porn, technology simply wouldn’t exist.
I love the fact that William said the porn sites were “manually programmed” every day. I’ll bet!
It means that porn blogs don’t have RSS feeds . . . yet.
Neither does Drudge.
