A friend is worth…. not much

A friend is worth…. not much

: Kept thinking about Friendster’s hiring of Scott Sassa as its new head and for me it comes down to this: Sassa didn’t have a job and Friendster doesn’t have a business.

Ouch. I had the same inkling, but not the right vinegar/oil ratio to actually find the words.

The idea is to leverage the socnet demographic (so-called ‘young tech elites’) to run marketing as a profit center, a la NBC’s The Apprentice,
    NBC’s The Restaurant, etc.
So look for something like “The Apprentice Meets Sex and The City”…
Which is what we’re working on at the ‘Better MySpace TV’ group on MySpace (http://profile.myspace.com/users/3748393).
    The key excerpt:
The earliest internships will focus on Go_Ogle’s leading-edge technology for searching social networks, which is also a ‘must-use’ in corporate turnarounds.
We will market our interns, suppliers, intern employers and Go_Ogle through profitable comedy programming, online and on television. The initial television program — The Secret Life of Go_Ogle — will center on the comic plight of Go_Ogle’s CEO: like many men, he wants to succeed in his professional life and also be the best boyfriend, and later husband and father, he can. In his case, achieving this balance:
    * is complicated by the magnitude of the stakes in the early CLLCS [i.e. customized lifelong learning and career services] market
    * will be further complicated by Go_Ogle-affiliated actresses and models, who will routinely employ their beauty, their charms more generally, and the latest innovations from the burgeoning sciences of enhancing desirability, to make a favorable impression on him
Why will the actresses/models seek out the CEO?
The key to high-profile exposure through the show is affiliation with the right Go_Ogle innovation efforts. Early affiliation, more precisely, so actresses/models will compete for these affiliations. Insights into the company’s priorities for the near future will help actresses/models make good decisions about where to affiliate. Of course, nobody will know more about the company’s future direction than the CEO.
(Note: the comic premise is not meant to reflect on any MySpace models/performers. It’s just a premise that allows the show to entertainingly explore the nature and challenges of contemporary relationships. To maximize the entertainment value of the show, the CEO’s girlfriend will perform a job at Go_Ogle that will make her the focus of many male actors’/models’ attention.)
