Audible sucks! Audible sucks! AUDIBLE SUCKS!

: Against my own better judgment, I tried Audible again. I bought an iPod Mini mainly so I could listen to Studio 360. The process of getting files onto the iPod is ridiculous but I got through that. I subscribed to the show. Tonight, I wanted to download the latest episode. Error message. I buy another file. It doesn’t show up in my list of files to download. ARRRGGGGHHHHH. These bozos charge me 24/7 but they have no “help” 24/7.

Met me repeat this just so there is no doubt: AUDIBLE SUCKS. AUDIBLE SUCKS. AUDIBLE SUCKS.

Stick that in your Google and smoke it, Audible.

    it was only a few days ago that you chided a journalist for describing blogs as a place where people can “bore the world with your thoughts on just about any subject.” now i see what he meant…

    Jeff, you can bypass dealing with Audible by buying their programs directly from iTunes Music Store. In iTunes, click on Music Store, search for ‘studio 360’ and you’ll get the latest program.

    Second Class: I fully know & accept that you can write whatever you want. All I’m saying is that you shouldn’t get mad when some reporter calls you out on it.

    Audible’s fantastic until something goes wrong. Their customer service is the worst in the world. They should have employees streaming, listening, and transferring every file they sell.
    They treat their clients like shit. Online chat is the slowest I’ve ever witnessed.
    The All Things Considered programs on Thursday and Friday had interference on them but I gave up contacting Audible; will just hope they notice their errors soon.
    They should get a blog and update clients on ongoing problems; it would save them a lot of bogus email. For example, you notify them that ATC has been of poor quality for the past two days, they then email you back with a survey for you to complete — no, it doesn’t occur with other files because I didn’t say so, idiots.

    Gee, Amanda, what do you care what someone says about some reporter? Your comments on this issue are about ten times as boring as Jeff’s comments on some software — which are at least interesting to people who might want to try out or have tried said software. All we get from you is an “I don’t like this post of yours, you shouldn’t complain when other people say that blogs are useless.” Yawn.

    I’vew been using Audible on and off for about 2 years now & have generally been pretty happy with them. The one exception is that if you want to burn CDs of their downloads you either have to do it at a stupidly slow rate OR you have to pay for Roxio’s software to do it – and since I already have Nero I see no need to pay twice for the same functionality.

    Andrea. Chill. I can hear the screech from here. If no-one complained on blogs, 99 percent of them would be gone (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing).

    You’re using and paying Audible for NPR programming…
    which you could get for free streaming from NPR’s site…
    and capture with a program like Audiocorder (on the Mac) or any of a billion others…
    and import into your iPod?
    For free? Did I mention free yet?

    I disagree. Audible is great. I’ve been a subscriber for years and have downloaded probably a hundred books in that time — using four different devices (the original Audible hardware, two different Rio’s, and now a Sony gizmo). The iPod is flaky, let’s face it.
