GMail: Just got a GMail account. Will let you know what I find. So far, I see nothing revolutionary.
Well hopefully that will stop all the people who are feening for an account from harassing the nice folks at Google….
By all accounts, “So far, I see nothing revolutionary” will change to “why doesn’t (insert client-name here) do this?” You get the much-loved Google search and they do-away with “folders” in favor of labels, making it possible to easily find what you want without ever moving mail from your Inbox. Sometimes it’s the subtle things that makes an application/service Revolutionary.
And here’s another reason to applaud Google: the lack of personal information they collect. More info at: http://fury.com/article/1991.php
Also see http://miscoranda.com/102 for good info.
I guess it would be difficult to consider anything relating to email “revolutionary”, but:
1 gig, POP (IMAP?) access, spartan interface, thread view, searchable and free with a legit financial model?
pb: i can’t find pop/imap access.
How’d you get on the “invite only” list – pretty sneaky. Was hopin to try that out m’self. :(
That’s funny, I just got sixteen advertisements for Buzz Machine in my mailbox! :)
Wait until you have some email in there, then it gets interesting. The threaded conversation and auto-fill may take a few days to mean much. I have 6+ months of email in my account and then the search really shows it’s stuff. It’s hard to gauge with a day’s worth of email in there.
Jeff is a secret Yahoo mole.
Here, here. (The POP and IMAP I read are in development, or consideration, one or the other…)
All I’ve got to say is you’re a lucky guy :D
I’ll take your account if you don’t want it ;P
