What, no naked lesbians?

What, no naked lesbians?
: I’m tuning into the start of Air America and all I’m hearing so far is a medly of bad rock appropriate for rallies.

: A helpful commenter informs us that programming begins at noon with Al Franken (couldn’t find that on the AirAmerica site).

: Meanwhile on Howard this morning, Tim Robbins appeared, now that they’re political bedfellows. No big political rants. Howard, of course, said that soon there’ll “be no place for my art.”

To which Robbins added: “Or your fart.”

Jeff – Broadcasting doesn’t start until noon eastern with The O’Franken Factor.

So there’s a stream? Wasn’t any indication on the site yesterday, so I figured they’d dropped the ball.
But now their site is hosed all the way down Highway 403.
I suppose they’ll spin this as “overwhelming interest!” but it’s really nothing more than poor planning if their servers can’t handle a spike in traffic on opening day. Too bad. I’d like to hear what Al has to say, but I don’t live anywhere near the l’il transmitters they’ve leased.

Jeff’s link was the problem. I found a direct link into the site here:

    Starts at noon.

Can Franken for once do something on his own, instead of having to leapfrog on Limbaugh or O’Reiley?
Oh, I forgot- he did do something on his own. Stuart Smalley.
What a disgusting excuse for a human being Franken is…

The O’Franken Factor? If all they are going to do is try to parody conservative radio, it’s doomed.
No wait, it’s liberal radio. It’s doomed anyway. Nevermind. :-)

Stern also said that the ‘government’ is ‘trying to shut down’ Robbins new play. ‘So go see it while you can.’ There was no irony in his voice. Yeah, that was Ashcroft writing in the newspaper that the play was dumber and duller than old Soviet Socialist Realism…

Okay. I take back my take-back of the complaint. The server’s hosed again. And it’s not even on the air yet.
Maybe they should do a paid stream.

Tuned it in this morning on XM Radio. All they were airing at the time was back-to-back-to-back-to-back etc. commercials for the Air America shows, which were specially made for XM. The channel’s also located next to XM’s conservative talk channel, which airs Savage, Laura Ingram and Michael Reagan. It also aired Ed Schultz for the past two months in the afternoon, but he’s supposed to be moving over to Ch. 167, so I don’t know if he’s going to be on both channels for a while, or if they’ll plug in another conservative talker on Ch. 166.

Just tuned in online. Franken’s bit on locking Coulter in the green room was pretty funny. But he’s no Howard Stern. The voice doesn’t fill the room I’m listening in, and he’s afraid to tell people when they’re boring. Like Michael Moore. Who’s being boring right now.

Giving it a try right now. Wow, somebody forgot to tell Franken to practice being…oh, I don’t know…a RADIO HOST. If it weren’t for the co-host, Al would be lost in a sea of dead air. Wow, they just got a caller and they acted as though the sun had come up. OH MY GOD IT’S AL GORE!!
    Yep, they’re toast.

Listened to Randi Rhodes for a few moments. She said “Did you know that Bush walked into a second grade classroom 15 minutes AFTER the first plane hit the World Trade Center??? Now, you can CHECK that. That’s a FACT.” It’s commentary like this, small little lies that are sort of half-ignorant, half-dishonest, that turn people away from left-wing radio. Obviously when the first plane hit nobody knew what the hell hit the tower. News organisation on air were saying a ‘small plane’ had apparently hit the tower. Have fun with your new network, liberals…

I listened to some of Franken and Rhodes. Both of them stink. Franken was just flat boring. He had Gore and Moore, the Big Guns of the format, and they flopped horribly.
Then Rhodes is just offensive to me. Wellstone’s plane was shot down by NORAD? WTF? I find it offensive when someone insinuates that American pilots will shoot at a civilian plane just because the President says to, and that planes can come back short on ordinance and no one on the ground crews would say anything to anyone? That isn’t just offensive to people on the right — that is utter contempt for the entire military.
Rhodes seems to be the left’s answer to Savage. She seems to be about the same.

Sol – you are joking right?
And right-wing radio is different how?
It’s talk radio. It needs to make money. With Randi Rhodes it has made headlines.
We will have fun. Thanks. That’s pretty much most of the idea. It’s a choice.
Maybe it’ll get on American Forces Network, next to Limbaugh.

“Sol – you are joking right?
And right-wing radio is different how?”
Right wing radio (in my book Limbaugh, Medved, Hewitt, Laura Ingraham) stay on-the-mark regarding honestly stating facts and presenting non-disingenuous and non-patently-ignorant observations. You may disagree from an ideological standpoint, but there’s nothing as dumb on the shows listed above as what I hear from the dumb, loony, and juvenile-delinquent left. Again, though, have fun…

People on the right actually possess library cards and passports which helps as well…

He had that idiot Robbins on the show eh?
Until recently I am pretty sure Robbins thought Stern was the worst of the worst. Didn’t Stern used to ride Robbins and his wifey? Robbins his wife & the rest of their ilk are just as bad as those filthy bible thumpers he hates.
Stern’s turning into the perfect Hypocrite. Guess he hasn’t seen that stupid show yet huh?

  17. sol Avatar

Filthy Bible thumpers? Wow, you’re really positioned for extreme coolness. Hates Robbins and calls Christians ‘filthy’. You don’t know the very ground you stand on, boy.

Drudge carries word on how Franken is decreasing diversity in the San Francisco area:

Yeah I remember how the Democrats tried to have Limbaugh removed off the air there completely… finally the Republicans fought and he got an hour.

I know perfectly where I stand. I dislike anyone who tells me what I should think and shouldn’t think. That’s those Uber Liberals & Bible Thumpers. The world would be a much better place without either of that rubbish.
And the difference between a Christian & a Bible Thumper is:
One believes the teachings of Christ and tries to apply it to their lives you know, that bit about love & compassion, the other corrupts the message with their narrow minded, hate filled ideals and then uses it to hurt or single out groups of people as enemies because they don’t like their lifestyle, skin color or religion, just like the Koran Thumpers.
Limbaugh is a hypocrite too, and Franken is a twank.
