MT, RSS and drafts

MT, RSS and drafts
: Does Movable Type publish draft posts in RSS feeds?

I thought not (and even tested that once when I caught some really odd things on Nick Denton’s RSS feed).

But this morning, Amy Langfield read the post below, which linked to her, on RSS via Bloglines. But I hadn’t posted it yet.

I often write drafts of unfinished posts (which I would not want published!) or I use a draft to cut-and-paste quotes for a later post or I will confess that I occasionally write posts the night before and post them the next morning (makes me look so damned efficient).

Anybody know what happens with drafts, MT, and RSS?

It shouldn’t, though if you accidentally published the post first and then later changed the status to ‘draft’, it might have stuck.

I use MT and I also have an account in Bloglines where I monitor how my RSS feeds look – if I save an entry as s draft, it definitely does not show up in Bloglines.

MT definitely doesn’t publish draft posts by default in any of its feeds. Having a post marked as “publish” and then moving it to draft status without republishing your feeds is the only way you’d have draft content appear in a feed, unless you’re doing advanced plugins and hacking templates and all that other craziness.

    Agree.
