Intern? What intern?

Intern? What intern?
: Here’s hoping that the Kerry intern meme is dying or dead.

She alleged affairmate has denied it, as has Kerry.

On NBC Nightly News, Tom Brokaw danced around it like a tap dancer on tacks: The story we’re not going to tell about about regarding a candidate who says he didn’t do something a rumor says he did now is denied by the other person involved in that rumor we’re not going to tell you about. Got it?

But I want to say this for the record:

: I could not care less if John Kerry had an affair.

: I could not care less that Bill Clinton did.

: I could not care less if George Bush got light duty in the National Guard or got out early.

: I could not care less if John Kerry threw away his medals or wore them or was next to Jane Fonda or wasn’t.

: I could not care less that George Bush used to drink.

: I could not care less if either of them burp or belch or masturbate or pick their noses or leave the seat up or have dandruff or pass on the right.

I only care if they can do a decent job running the government and keeping us safe. That’s it. Even the presidency is just a job and I want someone who will do it well.

For the record, the phrase is “I _couldn’t_ care less…”. Because you care so little that you couldn’t care less. Makes sense.
(Sorry that my first comment to buzzmachine is negative; I really enjoy the commentary, but obviously “could care less” is a pet peeve of mine.)

Starting right now – any candidate who wants to fight terrorism with law enforcement rather than with war is dead with me.

Does that sentiment extend to domestic terrorism as well?

I’d never vote for someone who has dandruff … but that’s just me …

    Jeff-
I would agree that such things shouldn’t be the sole determining factor for who is elected.
I would disagree that such things should be totally ignored.
How we meet our challenges in life says something about how we will be larger challenges down the road. And THAT does have an impact on how a candidate will handle the Presidency.
    Regards, Dann

It’s all part of the equation. I’m glad it’s being reported.
I’m voting for President who 1) is not risk adverse and 2) doesn’t have a predilection for taking inane risks.

Pure domestic terrorism, like EarthFIRST and GreenPeace can be fought with conspiracy laws. Any foreign based terrorism must be a law enforcement problem of the foreign government, a failure of a foreign government to control anti-American terror is an act of war.

Bill Clinton stuffed the matter of “It’s just sex” down our throats to the point of priming anyone else using this argument for a big raft of reprisal. I know it should not be very relevant, if at all, but Bill actually made it relevant. Thank you again, Mr. Bill. Your legacy is already showing.

I “could care less” can also be taken to mean that “I thought I couldn’t care any less than I have in other situations, but now I find that I could if I want to, but I don’t want to. Yet I could, and thus reach a new level of not caring.” I am not a lawyer, but stayed at a Holiday Inn sometime, I’m sure. But, then, I couldn’t care less if I did, although I could if I wanted to. If I did want to, then after accomplishing this new level, I couldn’t care any less, until I want to care less again, in which case I could care less. But I don’t really want to. So I will just stop caring about anything. Goodbye to all.

I don’t care about much of that stuff either, but I DO object – and very strongly – to a sitting president who thinks he can get away with lying under oath in a deposition relating to a sexual harrassment case.
The Clinton impeachment wasn’t about sex, it was about perjury. The guy placed his hand on the Bible and swore before a judge to tell the truth, then he told a series of BIG FAT LIES.
    And why?
    Simple.
At the time, he thought he could get away with it.
(in hindsight, I guess he was right)

: I could not care less if John Kerry had an affair
I’m troubled by the false sophistication of that statement. Character matters in a president. The presidency is way too big a job to know, or perform technically and leave your private life at home.
It matters. It matters that a candidate may or may not have the impulse control to stay zipped up. It matters that he is deliberately and knowingly setting himself up for trouble. It matters that the president is taking hours out of his work day to figure out how to get privacy in the pool with Marilyn Monroe. And it matters that he might be destroying the key supporting partnership in his life, just as he accepts one of the greatest challenges in the world.
    You should care.

You think a guy who is unfaithful to his wife, is faithful to his nation?

Hmm, failure of perspective there Robert. A foreign government allowing its people to violently antagonize (not protests or boycotts, but violence) the United States is scary. Someone pointing it out should not even register on the mild trepidation scale.

    “You’re scary.”
Glad to see you’ve finally got the message, Robbie.

    >A foreign government allowing its people to violently antagonize (not protests or boycotts, but violence) the United States is scary.
But that is not what the other guy said. He said, “a failure of a foreign government to control anti-American terror is an act of war.” To me this says that if Canada, for instance, failed to rout out all the terrorists in the country and one committed an act of terrorism against the US then he would view that as a failure and therefore an act of war. Now maybe he didn’t mean it to sound like that but nonetheless, that is what he said.

Well, if a guy can’t take his marriage vows seriously, do you think he will take his oath of office seriously. He treated his first wife like crap–if your own spouse can’t trust you, who can? I happen to think honesty is a trait I admire. I don’t like him, I don’t trust him. He makes even Dean look good.

Robert, you do have a point. The original statement does read as you say, and I read it to mean that a foreign government that makes no meaningful attempts to control terrorists in its borders is commiting an act of war, not if they are trying and not succeeding.
Canada isn’t trying to start a war with the US, they’re just not too effective in controlling terrorists.
