Blogging of the President: I’m

Blogging of the President
: I’m in a studio in Newark at WBGO listening to the feed of Chris Lydon’s Blogging of the President as I wait to go on at 10p. Call in.

Chris is doing a good job explaining this thing to the larger audience. Josh Marshall is soft-spoken and smart, as usual. Ed Cone is level-headed about the reality of technology. But the best is hearing the calls. So call in.

The latest caller admitted trying to blog for two days. She prefers paper.

I’m listening to the live stream, so far so good, but they seem to be talking more about the Internet and not blogs pre se, but that’s Ok. I saw a bit of John Kerry campaigning in NH on c-span and he told people to check out “my dot com.” heh heh heh Someone should teach him the word “web page.”
I did like the intro on Lydon’s show where they asked MOS what a blog was, that was funny.

There’s quite a few folks commenting on the show over at Eschaton – http://atrios.blogspot.com/

There is quite a long comment thread on Atrios, but it’s mostly asinine flaming and personal attacks on, well, anyone talking who isn’t atrios or Eschaton or whatever he calls himself.

    Nothing unusual, then.

No kidding. Did Jeff kill Atrios’ kitten or something?

Somehow Atrios strikes me as more of a ferret owner. So how is he going to disguise his voice? Funny accent? One of those voicebox things?

Jeff, you didn’t answer the question about the insular nature of blogs.

He’ll probably just use a mouthful of gobstoppers. That way his voice can be as garbled as most of his logic.

Jeff:This is off topic, but I was doing a search and this link came up so I read a sermon you gave and I was impressed. You truly are a jewel among Democrats. :):)

Ah, he went with the old “channelling Eddie Deezen” ploy.

Andrew Sullivan attacked Atrios on the pseudonymity issue beautifully. And Atrios had no good answer, or in fact, any answer whatsoever.

Remember the Martin Short character on SNL, when they did the 60 Minutes takeoffs? What was that guy’s name? I don’t know why Atrios makes me think of that.

Chris Lydon demonstrated that he’s not just a pretty boy with a good blow dry. He did a very good opening with Richard Reeves and the lead-in item about Teddy White as a sort of familiar-to-something-new transitional link. The guy’s got talent and professional skills!
I did not care for that interlude about Atrios’ anonymity. It sounded like ganging up on him and bullying him because he’s not a “professional” journalist. Maybe he earns a living driving an ice cream truck or flipping pancakes at House of Pancakes. So what?!!
I’ve never read Atrios. Maybe I’ll take a look at him just to see what he writes about. I don’t read most of those guys: Kaus, Sullivan, et al. I do read Reynolds a bit.
Overall, it was a good show. Oh yes, Jeff Jarvis was on, too :-) and made a worthy contribution.
