    Let’s see:
“Of course, special interest groups would like nothing better than to
hire a professional who dogs a critical [office-holder’s] every word and uses
that deconstruction to intimidate an aggressive [office-holder].”
Fear of a Free Press :-). My theory is that the media finds this so discomforting because they worry about someone doing unto them as they do unto others.

    Seth:
A million years ago I had the good fortune of taking Dr. Peter Berger’s graduate sociology courses in the Graduate Faculty at the New School for Social Research.
I remember him one day saying it is probably not a good idea to politicize all the people.
Suddenly with weblogs, Howard Dean has shown us, we have a tool that might, in fact, be able to help politicize all the people.
Of course, it can be a tool that will do wonderful things, but let’s be sure we understand that it probably has the potential to do some nasty things too.
Unfortunately, I drifted away from studying sociology to become a journalist, so maybe someone else can help us see why politizing all the people might not be a good idea.
    Jeff, thanks for the mention.
