One of our meteorologists has his older daughter with him, because there’s a two-hour delay. I asked him where his younger daughter was, and he said “in daycare”. They cancel school, but the daycare places are still open!
When I was a kid, they just kicked us out to the curb with an extra layer of clothes on. The ones who survived the cold were all the stronger for it. When did we start getting so scared of the goddamn cold? Me, I think it was when they stopped using snow fences. Early Eighties, maybe?
[old fart]It’s a damn good thing there’s global warming. This weak new generation would die of fright from a real cold snap.[/old fart]

I kept my kids home today. I’ll be damned if I’m going to go out there and start scraping three inches of ice off of my windshield just so they can get to school and end up doing nothing because hardly anyone else showed up.

    Wimps indeed.
North Dakota just came out of a cold snap where it didn’t get above 0 for two weeks. Our schools weren’t canceled, we just went about our business except we had to start plugging our cars in.

I went out to lunch today and left my place with my hair still damp from my shower, in the approx 60 paces I walked to my car, MY HAIR FROZE.
Don’t go out with wet hair!
    It will BREAK!
It was 17 degrees, but now it has warmed up to freezing.
