The Week’s Blogger of the Year award
: The cat is peeking out of the bag and so I’ll tell you that next week, The Week will give its first annual opinion awards and they were quite wise to include in that a nod to the Blogger of the Year. E&P has a story here.
For the blog award, Glenn Reynolds, Daniel Radosh, and I came up with the list of nominees and went through a highly scientific process to pick the winner involving handcuffs and darts (the E&P story has that wrong; it wasn’t passed off to nonbloggers).
Regardless of what you think of who’s nominated and who wins, what’s important is that The Week included weblogs in this as a recognition of their influence. That matters because blogs matter.
I’m going to the announcement next week — at the home of Harold Evans and Tina Brown, no less! — and I’ll report back to you here and link to the text of the awards as soon as it’s put up.
