The Iranian earthquake:

The Iranian earthquake:
: Pedram is on top of the tragic Iranian earthquake news…. including complications related to giving relief:

Have been doing some more research on this as a few bloggers wanted to start a fund and were busy finding suitable NGO’s inside Iran to give the money to, but apparently for those of us in USA to attempt to send donations through other means may be a violation of sanctions and subject to prosecution. In short, we aren’t free to decide how our donations are spent.

: Here’s the National Iranian American Council disaster relief page.

: IranMania’s earthquake news here.

: IranFilter is keeping up with the latest.

: Iranian Truth has tons of good links, including Iranian blogger comments.

: Persian Blogger has a beautiful photo of the history lost.

: To all my newfound Iranian blogging friends: I hope you and your families are safe and secure.

why are you putting up NIAC disaster relief page? They are an Islamic Regime front group?? — The money will go right into the Mullah’s hands..

    John,
What in the world are you talking about? NIAC is a legitimate Iranian-American organization with no relationship whatsoever with the mullahs. Jeez man, get your facts straight before you start ranting nonsense.
    Jeff,
Thanks for the support. Please let your readers know that for the moment Iranian bloggers are thinking of several ways by which we can not only provide aid to the victims of the quake but also provide measures which would allow for the redevelopment of basic infrastructure.

Jeff, do you agree with Nema? — Any Iranian (especially those in the US who ARE poltically active can smell NIAC and IAC stench from hundreds of miles away! ) anyone who visits iraniantruth.blogspot.com will immediately know who it represents.. Here is some info on the NIAC or IAC – ALSO – THE NIAC WAS KICKED OUT OF CALIFORNIA after their FRONT GROUPS were found out and their hands were opened.. Jeff, please, as a defender of the Iranian people please be careful what groups you push – because most web readers will think you support them..

    John,
Before you continue, it might be safe for you to dig up some real evidence instead of going to chat rooms, copying another person’s hearsay and then posting it as the basis for your argument. Second, and I’m not sure if your aware of this, but NIAC was recently recognized for their contributions of Iranian Americans. Rudi Bakhtiar, lead anchor of CNN

    One more thing John,
This is not a time for spewing your own political agendas. This is a time to mourn and assist the Iranian people. If you want to contribute something then do it for the victims of this quake or offer alternative methods of donations. Thats what we need. Not your banter.

PROBLEM – according to one of the Iranian bloggers, the Iranian President has declared that all NGO aid must pass through government hands: not just coordinated, but fully turned over. Apparently this was done in another earthquake ten years ago as well, and most supplies never made it to the field: tents, cots, equipment – all showed up in Teheran markets.

Jahn, you can’t hate the government of Iran more than I do. But for the sake of humanity, don’t mix this with politics.
If you don’t want to help, fine, but keep your crap for yourself. People are shivering in the the freezing night in quake zone, and here you still stick to your…

John Anderson, the Iranian blogger who reported this must be wrong. Mercy Corps (www.mercycorps.org) will be collecting and spending the money directly and by themselves. Please send a donation, Thanks.

Jonathan at WiredOpinion called it a weapon of mass destruction. Interesting turn of phrase. Just curious – does anyone else read WO?

Nema – I read your comments as well as the others.. You assertions regarding IAC are a joke – IAC is a front organization for IRI – plain andsimple…

I believe George. Bush will make a specific contribution tomorrow.. As for other nations – there contribution have been hardly enough… Also – in response to the thread regarding NIAC – Nema, or whatever you’re name is, assuming you are really Iranian.. You have made the issue political! Looks to us an everyone else that John was simply stating some facts regarding NIAC because he didn’t want to see NIAC play a number of unsuspecting victims as they have in the past…
From what I know of NIAC, they are a joke… A bigtime lobbyist for regime.. anyhow – keep pushing your line…..

    Simon, or John, or whatever,
Call me Mohammad Akbar Rafsanjani for all I care. If it’ll help you donate some money to these victims then thats all that matter. Now instead of ranting, Donate!
