The right reaction

The right reaction
: Joe Lieberman on Meet the Press: “My first reaction? Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!… This is a day of glory for the American military… This is a day of triump for anyone in the world who cares about human rights and cares about peace.”

Right on, Joe.

I’m starting to wonder whether Joe’s my guy.

Nice job Jeff Jarvis. About Lieberhosen I was wondering the same thing about him as I heard his reaction on MTP. And great blogging today man! I was online when this story broke (I was watching Headline News in the background) and although I’m not sure, I think your may have broke it first in the blogosphere. Oh and the spin used by the Headline news anchor was basically, if it is the tyrant what took the U.S. so long in finding him? (an actual question the talking head asked somebody asked one of his colleagues in Iraq on satelite phone). I mean c’mon Jihab (anchor’s name).

Lieberman doing the right thing isn’t news; Lieberman has been nothing but forthright in his support for the war on terror and the Iraq front of that war. Which means he’s probably got no chance for the nomination.

Under the heading of giving credit where it’s due: Way to go, Joe. I disagree with Lieberman on various issues, but am happy to acknowledge his grace and honesty in responding to Saddam’s capture on MTP. He’s an American first and a democrat second.

What Lieberman gets that most of the other Democratic hopefuls miss is just because you disagree with Bush on issues A, B or C doesn’t mean you automatically have to infer he’s wrong about everything, specifically in this case the war on terror and the effort to oust Saddam. Gephardt sounded supportive, though a little less enthusiastic in his interviews this morning, while Kerry looked and sounded like he had an 11 a.m. dental appointment for root canal work.
You would think that this event, far more than Al Gore’s endorsement last week, would be a chance for a major re-evaluation and potential shake-up in the view of the Democratic primary electorate. But unless Dean comes out during his major policy speech on Monday and repeats his crabby line of last April when he said Saddam’s ouster “was probably a good thing,” I don’t see his supporters moving away to any other candidate, given their fervent dislike of Bush.

    Just been watching the BBC.
Their latest gripe: wondering if parading Sadaam like that in front of the TV cameras (you know, scruffy beard and whatnot) would be seen as “undignified” by the good Iraqui people, and cause even more anger and resentment towards the US, GWB etc etc.
Somebody please tell me what drug these people are on.

Hugh, it sounds to me like they’ve been going to Ozzy Osbourne’s doctor. (13,000 drug doses in one year — no wonder he was incoherent!)

This is why Joe is the only democrat who has any business running for president. He is the only man who is likely to actually be glad today. Everyone else is going, “Oh shit” in private, no matter what they are saying in public.
Hey I like that. I think I will put that on my blog.
Btw, my thoughts today are found here: http://mysite.verizon.net/res1uo0x/id53.html
i know, i know blatant blog pimping. Only it is not pimping, because it is not prostitution; it is an act of love. :-)

If you must vote Dem, then Joe has to be your guy. All the other Dems are going to spend the rest of the campaign repudiating what they said about the Iraq war, or continuing to look like Baathists.
Really, though, George should be your guy.

For months now I’ve been wondering why Lieberman is still a Democrat.
Quoth Reagan: “I didn’t leave the Democratic party, it left me.” Never understood that until recently.
Prediction: Several more Democrats will endorse Bush.

“If Howard Dean had had his way, Saddam Hussein would still be in power, not in jail…” – Joe Lieberman on CNN just now.

Exactly right. If it had been Dean’s choice, we’d still be at the U.N. waiting for approval.
I’m glad Lieberman has never apologized for supporting the war, and I’m starting to think he’s the only democrat I might feel good voting for.

It would be ironic if many people decide Lieberman in their guy but don’t vote for him because they think he’s unelectable…..
I’m going to vote for Bush because I don’t think we should change horses in mid-stream, although I am much more liberal than he on social issues. But the only Dem I would vote for is Leiberman.

I consider myself a Republican, but I’m quite willing to defend Lieberman. He’s an “old school” Democrat — that is, one with some class.
A good reaction to great news on a fantastic day for Iraqis.

As a mostly-publican I could vote for Joe, if I didn’t fear he’d get assassinated in the first 90 days. My god, the world reaction to having a Jooooooo as president, we’d be nuked.
And some think our relations with Germany and France are bad under Bush…..
