Africa blogs

Africa blogs
: Since I’m a blog internationalist, often linking to Iranian, Iraqi, and German blogs, a reporter emailed me this morning asking whether there were blogs from (or about) Africa. I follow a few and I followed the links on them and in no time, I had quite a list: AfricaBlog, AfricaPundit, Mostly Africa, Ethiopia Express, A Taste of Africa, Swamp Cottage, Letters, AfricaBlog, Head Heeb, Mr. Dutton Goes to Mozambique, and there are more where those came from. Is there a country where there aren’t blogs? I doubt it.

And by the way, isn’t that a smart reporter looking to weblogs to find new news, information, voices and viewpoints?

Just for the record, I blog from Queens, although I cover Africa a great deal. I believe that Africapundit, Mostly Africa and both of the sites called Africa Blog are also based in the United States.

If you need a feed, go to David Janes ‘blog matrix’ or whatever he’s calling it these days. He maintains a portol of blogs which he can scrape.
It’s not true that ipso facto if a blog is on blogspot, it doesn’t have an RSS feed. My blog’s feed is scraped by Janes.

Try the Pepys Project for worldwide blogs. He has over 1000 listed.

Another one to watch the next few weeks is Joshua Benton a journalist who is on a Pew Fellowship in Zambia.
