Stop the stop-the-war madness

Stop the stop-the-war madness
: Harry Hatchett has a counter demonstration to the demonstration against the “occupation” of Iraq going on in lovely London town.

I have one suggestion to the marchers: Why don’t you take the example of David Blaine and just shut up for 44 days?

To leave Iraq would be to leave it to anarchy, violence, economic chaos. These people want the U.S. to fail so badly that they would sacrifice the civility and lives of the Iraqi people to meet that goal. These people don’t give a rat’s rump about the Iraqi people.

And the liberation (nee occupation) of Iraq is ahead of, say, the liberation of Germany. Rumsfeld excerpted from the Washington Post:

It may well end up that Iraq will have more responsive government than NJ has. Government in NJ compares to government in Belarus or in one of the Latin American banana republics. And it’s getting more and more sinister every day.

It may have been redundant to mention this: The protestor of the war against Iraq really don’t give a hoot about Iraq. For all they care, we might be invading Utah, and they’ll still be protesting.
You know your life have no meaning, when your stated profession is being a protestor.

Speaking of rats’ rumps, anyone who thinks Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld give a rat’s rump about the people of Iraq is even more naive than, well, the pacifists you now deride.
Frankly, I’m afraid most Americans don’t give a rodent’s posterior about the people of Iraq. Otherwise we would occasionally hear some acknowledgement of the 10,000-plus Iraqis who have died there as a consequence of “Operation Iraqi Freedom.”
True, we can’t abandon Iraq now. But this misguided war was never really about “Iraqi Freedom,” any more than it was about protecting the United States from terrorism.

Evidence? (And you have to subtract the Baathist insurgents and foreign jihadis from the total.)

Don’t forget to net out all the Iraqis who would have died at Saddam’s hands if we left him alone.

Good news that Iraq is (slowly) moving toward independence. However, the comparison with Germany is misplaced. The reason Germany took so long to rebuild is that we bombed the shit out of it first.
We’re probably on the same timetable as Germany would be if postwar Germany had had buildings to meet in.

Yehudit asks for evidence about the number of Iraqis who have been killed. I saw that number (10,000+) reported as an estimate in the NY Times last spring, but it is a number that I have otherwise never seen reported in the US media.
Here’s what I’d like to see: Everytime the media give a running total as to the number of American troops killed in Iraq, they should contrast that with the number of Iraqis who have been killed by the allied forces. For good measure, they could contrast both numbers with the number of people killed in the Sept. 11 attacks in Manhattan, Arlington, and Somerset County, Pa. I can guess which number would be highest.
Let’s keep in mind that many of those killed by invading forces in Iraq were men, women and children who were just as innocent as those who lost their lives in the US on Sept. 11.
