These days the Arab media are full of articles about how the Arabs feel humiliated by what has happened in Iraq, how they are frustrated, how they hate America for having liberated the people of Iraq from their oppressor, and how they hope that the Europeans, presumably led by Jacques Chirac, will ride to the rescue to preserve a little bit of Saddam

    SAUDI ARABIA: State television commentator Jamal Khashoggi told viewers: “The Iraqi situation is exceptional, we can’t compare it with Iran or Egypt … or a country like Saudi Arabia. This is … a regime outside history and I hope Iraq returns and reintegrates with its brothers and neighbors.”
    SYRIA: Syrian TV showed poetry and architecture programs as Saddam’s statue was crashing to the ground.
    They can feel the ground moving under their feet, and wondering if it’s 3rd Infantry paying a diplomatic call. The Leftist are right, it is all about the OIL, for the people, not the the Princes. A resource managed for the benefit of all,
    and wasn’t socialism always brought with the barrel of a gun. I’ve wondered if John Howard had a hidden agenda, but I never took him for a “fellow traveller” planting the seeds of revolution with his SAS cadres! Che Howard the Stalin of the South Pacific, bringing democracy to a shithole new YOU!!
