Hey, kids, this is history

Hey, kids, this is history
: Here’s how the BBC explains today’s news to children: “An amazing event that will probably be shown in history lessons in classrooms throughout the world in years to come…”

Of course, being the BBC, they were probably referring to “America’s failure to win the peace.”
I heard about an hour of the World Service today and it was astonishing how hard the hosts back in comfy London were trying to find clouds in the silver linings, and how often the correspondents who couldn’t help being swept up in the excitement began their responses to the leading questions put to them with “No, not at all…”

It is indeed astonishing what has happened to the beeb. I tuned in for the first few days expecting to balance out CNN but found myself continually removing a shoe and beating the screen. Their spin has become revolting.

    Someone call Andrew Sullivan:
As US marines climbed up to attach the cable, one of them decided to place a US flag over Saddam’s face,
The crowd didn’t like this and jeered. It was soon replaced by the Iraq flag.

The crowd seemed pretty happy with the US flag, they were cheering not jeering.
