Take that, you whining oaf
: Au Currant quotes Dennis Miller on Leno re Michael Moore:

He’s going to wake up every day for the rest of his life, and he’s going to tell us how he hates everything about this country except his right to hate it. And then we say that we love it and he’s going to tell us what naive sheep we are and that he’s the true patriot because he hates it and he sees all the problems in it. Yeah, right, Mike. You know something, if my yawn got any bigger they’d have to assign it a hurricane name, okay? Michael Moore simultaneously represents everything I detest in a human being and everything I feel obligated to defend in an American. Quite simply, it is that stupid moron’s right to be that utterly, completely wrong.

    Dennis Miller is great.
    Just my opinion.

  • joe70116

    Wow. And I panned his stint on Monday Night Football. I apologize.
    Can we nominate Dennis Miller for an Oscar of some sort?

  • Pithpott

    Most movement to the right by a once-funny talent?
    Most envious by same?
    Take your pick.

    Well, how is what Moore did any different from Miller’s comedic take on the Republican National Committee some years back on Comedy Central? Now we’re supposed to be on Miller’s side just because he supposedly defends the man’s right to say what he feels? You could argue that maybe it wasn’t the most appropriate time to express his opinion, but it just strikes me as odd that Dennis Miller now judges Moore for doing something Miller was counted on for doing years on end: eliciting a response.
    And since when did Miller become such an apologist for Bush?

  • af

    I think I can pinpoint the exact moment when Miller became a apologist for Bush: when the opposition became Osama and Saddam.

  • It’s too bad Dennis Miller has become such a lackey of the Man… I guess since he starting hosting FOOTBALL, we know what kind of guy he really is, so I guess he can go rot in random reference hell. I’ll be more interested in what Michael Moore has to say than someone who has made themselves completely irrelevant.

    Well put! The big gass bag lives for the opportunity to be fashionably snide and acidic: he would have criticized Lincoln and the civil war as “corporate greed against the agrarians” and WWII as “seeking to help the British hold their empire.” Bitter man. Bitter life.

  • If Moore received an Oscar when his film violated the Oscar’s own rules, can’t the award be revoked?
    Better yet: Can’t the other nominees sue or something? Maybe that’s why he dragged ’em on stage–to make nice before they caught on to what a cheater he is (or the Academy Voters are).

    Michael Moore is living proof that Goebbels could have made it big time in the USA. He was awarded an oscar for a documentary that had all the truth of a Chiraq speech. He is the role model of herpes viruses everyhwere. Its sad to see some people identify with Moore, its as if you envy a leper.

    Dearest Clive;
    I would suggest you listen to Dennis Miller Rants 1 and 2. He expressed the same views as he does now. He is ‘NOT a lackey for the man”. He has been for the death penalty, makes fun of the religious right and damn funny, way before Pres Bush. Suggest downloading his rants from his HBO show. Again, his views haven’t changed from before or after Bush or 9/11. He does a rant on Enron and Cheney that hardly qualifies as a lackey.
    Whether one finds him funny or not, is a measure of personal taste. The french like Jerry Lewis, go figure.

  • I’m boycotting Dennis Miller-related products. I don’t have time to go into why the guy is so wrong on this one. It’s sad, really.

  • Beer Bloke

    (Sorry), who’s Dennis Miller?

  • Danjo

    Dearest Beer Bloke;
    He is a comedian on American TV. He was on Saturday Night Live and had his own HBO Show.
    He has come out in support of Bush and the war.
    This is in direct contrast to a lot of Hollywood types who are actively protesting the war. One of his problems with a lot of people is that he uses big words, with more than 2 syllables. He is thought of as a thinking man’s comic.
    Speaking of comics, Beer Bloke, we are still pissed off about Yahoo Seriously. What the hell was that?

  • Beer Bloke

    Thanks Danjo. Unfortunately we don’t get Saturday Night Live where I am.
    I think it was actually Yahoo Serious. At least we can agree on that one. I’m buggered if I know what that was about, and you’d surely have to agree that the Crocodile Dundee series was a croc of sh&%. And there was another one but I can’t remember the name.
