Not sure what this has to do with free speech. Who’s being prevented from speaking?

Hearing is the other side of speaking. This is a government official who doesn’t allow our ears — the press — to hear what he has to say? Unamerican, I’d say.

He’s acting in his capacity as a private citizen, and he allowed print media–he just didn’t want broadcast. That’s his perogative. He didn’t “ban” broadcast. He made that a condition of an agreement with a private association to give a speech.

Huh? The press is free to attend.
They’re just not allowed to bring cameras to play the edit game.
I suspect that full transcripts are available, so it’s hard to see that the press has a legit complaint. They can attend and they can report what was said.
