Fear in high places

Fear in high places
: Primedia head Tom Rogers fears chemical weapons. Well, that’s what I took out of his memo to employees about work and war [via Gawker]

…a team of our employees met recently with senior representatives from the Security Services Group at Kroll, the international security firm….

While I do not want to discount the possibility of chemical or biological terrorism — and it is something I have personally worried about — Kroll believes that some in the media have overstated the risk that terrorists can use these types of materials as weapons of mass destruction. In addition, they do not believe that duct tape and plastic to seal openings in windows and doors provide any significant protection, nor do they believe that stocking supplies for the possibility of a long-term “quarantine” is necessary. Kroll does suggest that employees with special medical needs keep a supply of enough drugs or other supplies in their workplace to sustain them for a few days in the event of an emergency. A strike with conventional explosives such as car or truck bombs is a more likely scenario in Kroll’s view….

Thanks, boss, I feel so much better now.
