I’m the photo editor at the Toronto Metro, among the first, and fastest, of the chain to become profitable without leaving the transit distribution model.
I don’t know what the particular problems are with starting a Metro in L.A. – the lack of a serious public transit system is one, I suppose – but there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be next on the list. Of course, I can only speculate on just what it is about a city the size of L.A. that they can live with only one major daily for so very long.
One thing about Los Angeles, though, that it shares with NYC, but for different reasons – it ain’t like the rest of America.
