Around the world in 80 blogs

: Global Voices is maintaining a great list of worldwide blogs.

: Meanwhile, back at this ranch, DeepBlog is a good list of good blogs. When people ask you for a starting point to read blogs, this looks like a decent suggestion.

: And continuing this roundup of roundups, here’s BlogHeaven from Beliefnet.

It’s just my personal opinion that a reader who is new to blogs, but interested in reading them, would do better to just surf the links on the sidebar of a blog they like, to find more blogs they would like.
There are already lots of directories; these are just duplicating other directories. And it looks like they are trying to become proprietors and commercial aggregators. I do not take ads on my blog and I don’t want any such entanglements.
I’m very turned off by stuff like this. But that’s just me. I don’t speak for anyone else.

I think you need to eat more. You need an Italian mother-in-law.

    Jeff, Thanks for the mention!
Sissy, Thanks for the heads-up (and sarcasm); Ed at CQ nicely emailed me the correction as well–it has been changed. Any other advice on how we can make DB better is appreciated.
Button, – A while back, my initial time consuming experience finding, loading and reading blogs as a newcomer was complete with sites that were either not maintained or not what I was looking for, but I stayed with it and found a multitude of subjects, expertise and personalities of great value. With DeepBlog, we merely want to expedite that process for Internet users who are new to blogs. Many of our new users (who know little of blogs) email me of their new discovery and appreciation of how blogs enrich their life. Hopefully, at DB, newcomers will find a good first impression of the blogosphere through a little understanding of its many subjects and easy navigation to great bloggers; understanding removes intimidation and allows people to approach and discover a product: whatever it is, and quick access to quality blogs encourages new readers to return and surf deeper into the longtail. Simply, we’re trying to help make the entry into the blog world as user friendly as possible, with a one page menu, to increase and keep blog readers.
    Respectfully,

Borrowing a famous laugh line from the 1967 movie, “The Graduate,” I want to say one word to you — just one word (well, three, actually): Deep Blog Drills ;-D
