And to his supporters, he will be a welcome breath of fresh air to a stale and poorly run organization.
As the FATHER OF FOMENTING DEMOCRACY UNIVERSALLY – EVEN IN COUNTRIES WHICH WERE STAUNCH ALLIES OF OURS IN THE COLD WAR (if they were autocratic/totalitarian)Wolfie is academic/statesman MOST responsible (since 1980)for creating and implementing the policies which DIRECTLY led to the liberation of the philipines, indonesia, and georgia and serbia/kosovo and afghanistan and iraq. FOR STARTERS!
he is one of the MOST important figures in the history of USA foreign policy – as big as any – and one who had an INCREDIBLY POSITIVE effect. Like Marshall.
He is an inspired selection for this post.
he will see to it that the World Bank’s moola is effectively spent, and leads to the growth of free market economies and democracy.
God Bless Wolfie and W.
well it got mcnamara to sleep at night post tet…
First Bolton to the UN, now Wolfie to the World Bank.
Bush to World=Bend over and take it like a man.
gosh, and i was hoping he’d get to go be our ambassador to iraq, since he’s so keen on bringing freedom there. but maybe they want to keep that post on a revolving-door basis until ’08, when W can strap on his spurs and go bring law to the wild middle east.
At least he won’t be armed is the best we can say. A lot of the good that the World Bank accompishes will probably dry up in a haze of neocon cruelty, but if it gets him out of the US government, it’s a win for us.
“look at this way: He won’t be armed”
You’re assuming that the power/influence of those controlling the World Bank is less than those controlling the US Defense Department.
I think you’re getting a little ahead of yourself. Wolfowitz has only been nominated.

um…you realize wolfie was a-ok with the dictators in the philippines and indonesia, right? he doesn’t deserve any credit for their liberation.
feith? doug feith, is that you?
Screw the World Bank…tired of their ATM fees, I’m done with ’em.
I want to hear you comment on your rotund nemesis being unmasked as a anti-semite vis-a-vis Mr. Wolfowitz: http://www.oliverwillis.com/node/2085

Given the recent battle of wits you fought against the unilaterally disarmed leftist, I am curious about your take on this subject.
He is saying that he will do much listening and learning. Let us hope he will not listen and learn so much that nothing changes.
It has become a pre-retirement home and there is much to be done…
