You know, the Brits believe the spread of freedom began circa 1759 when they began 60 years of warfare with the French (an act that gave us our freedom) – so you never know…perhaps we’re 250 years in. Certainly, the immediate post 9/11 era will never, ever be remembered as an era of freedom…quite the opposite – crackdowns were believed necessary, including in this country.
