Tsunami links

Tsunami links

: I’m going to be on MSNBC at regular intervals throughout the day tomorrow giving continuing reports on weblogs’ and the web’s response to the tsunami tragedy. Will Femia was doing that today.

Please leave new links in the comments below — any new stories of survivors, new resources for help, new and compelling responses to the tragedy, new photos and videos….

Rick von Feldt was in Phukett, started a blog, is doing interviews and has posted some 27 photos online. The wildlife may be fine but all the dogs have died

I’ve put together a couple of torrent feeds to conveniently download some of the most spectacular videos.
With torrent feeds, the more people download the files, the faster it is for everybody to download the files. Ideally, people should seek to keep their torrent feed opened in the background even after they’re done downloading the videos, to keep the bandwidth pool plentiful.
I’m also linking to a convenient way to put an amazon tsunami relief donation badge on one’s website.

I think I’ve been the busiest blogger as far as bandwidth goes (over 100TB yesterday), and did an interview for a major National paper today. If you would like comments or anything, drop me an email

The blogosphere is crammed full of great people doing great things to help. It’s all about spreading the word and creating new ways for people to give. As expected, Amazon has been amazing.

A number of software creators have donated sales proceeds form their sales this week to the effort. Nick Bradbury at Brandbury software makes a few very excellent programs used in web design and an RSS reader you may have heard of caled FeedDemon – he would be a great person to talk to, as well.
Lastly, we’re actively trying to get Google’s AdSense (it’s an online advertising program) customers to donate their ad revenues (small amount per person, but a huge ammount in aggregate) to the relief effort, and we are also trying to convince Google to provide a mechanism on the Google AdSense web site for its customers to be able to do that. It’s an effort by bloggers to provide a common way to have lots of other bloggers be able to donate. See here for more info:

Sorry should have proofread, that’s Bradbury software – http://www.bradsoft.com/
Nick has also linked to other smaller software companies that are doing something similar at http://nick.typepad.com/blog/2004/12/disaster_relief_1.html
