“I advise anyone who wants a job in mainstream journalism to start a blog and write about mainstream journalism.”
    You go, girl! :-)

She solidifies her place as a serious journalist right here:
Q: What did you think of the bloggers’ role in the Dan Rather affair?
A: I think they did a disservice to the debate because they made the debate about the documents and not about the president of the United States. There was another half to that story that had to do with verifiable events of what Bush may have been up to.
Oh yeah, and by constantly referring to the size of Dick Cheney’s, er, well, you know.
    To each their own.

    Mike,
Was just coming over here to comment on that answer. “I think they did a disservice to the debate…” Disservice to the debate?!? There wouldn’t have BEEN a debate if it weren’t for bloggers. And who was stopping anyone from writing about or reporting true allegations?
She’s intermittently funny, in a Jon Stewart wannabe kind of way, but (heart) her I do not.

If she’s the future of mainstream journalism, they’re in bigger trouble than I thought.

Cox as Wonkette comes off as silly, self-centered and mean, and that micro-interview does nothing to dispel the impression.

I liked her logo but I never found anything worth reading. YMMV.

Err…I think Craig was being sarcastic. I have no idea what Denton is doing here with Wonkette and Gawker. Both, but especially the former, make a living off mocking Bush and Republicans…no wonder JJ assents and in doing so willfully misses Craig’s genially mocking entry. Why alienate at least half the nation with such partisan hackery as Wonkette’s lame attempts at humour…always (yes, always) at Republicans expense? Given Denton’s desperate marketing (check the incessant pleas for buying space at his affiliated sites) you’d think he’d hire an equal opportunity alleged humorist. Cox is so far in the tank for the libs, she refuses to find amusement in the kind of items re: Dems (how ’bout Chevy over at the Kennedy Center?) that would have her rolling down the aisle if it were the neos imploding.

Craig was being serious. He’s not as left as Ana Marie (who has always been open about her politics – she’s worked at In These Times, Mother Jones, and American Prospect. Yes, she is a journalist), but is progressive (and he likes humor).
She’s also being contrarian (people also forget she worked for Suck). And she certainly makes fun of Democrats (she’ll write about the size of any politician when the opportunity arises).
Craig is also too modest to mention he is one of Newsweek’s Who’s Next (a few years too late, but worth looking at for the photo alone).

“…she’s worked at In These Times, Mother Jones, and American Prospect. Yes, she is a journalist…”
Is the second sentence supposed to follow from the first?
