It’s too bad we can’t get a legitimate 3rd party candidate who will have true impact. This “democracy” should could use some diversity.

Republicans go “heh” to that, too. Bush needs as much legitimacy as he can get this time around.

He didn’t have the impact he had in 2000, but he still had an impact.
In the end, he’ll get about the same number of votes nationally he got in CA in 2000. He didn’t accomplish much.
But he did drain resources through the legal assualts on his ballot status and other efforts.
I edited his column when I was online editor at the Bay Guardian . I wrote suggesting instead of running he do the super rallies he did in 2000. He would have gotten more attention for the issues he wanted to raise. Almost all of his coverage this year was on the spoiler issue.
And he would have registered voters and helped motivae people to vote. It wouldn’t have made the diffence (Michael Moore basically did what I suggested), but it would have helped.
I stopped by the party for Nader’s running mate Peter Camejo in San Francisco. I didn’t realize at that point Kerry would lose. There are some photos towards the bottom of the page linked to my name.
There are photos at the top of the party for a Green candidate who will probably the San Francisco Supervisor seat Matt Gonzalez is retiring from. The election was conducted with IRV (Instant Runoff Voting) which would eliminate the possibility of a spoiler if used nationally.
And another Green was re-elected to the School Board beating a candidate appointed by Newsom who spent over $200,000. So the Green party is growing and making small gains at the local level.
