Kerry on Letterman

: Al Gore was a much more exciting guest. And, yes, that’s saying something.

I forsee Jay Leno going extra negative on Kerry. Afterall, Kerry didn’t extend the same courtesy to Leno.

yes but did you see Kerry on Regis this morning saying that the debates will happen despite the fact that Bush wanted to have some lifelines for the tough questions.
    it cracked regis up.

I saw Kerry on Regis and Kelly aand immediately thought that this was his jump the shark moment. It was lame, lame, lame.

Kerry’s crack on “Regis and Kelly” is another example of what a poor player Kerry is on the national stage.
The reality of presidential debates is that it’s an expectations game. Will Bush meet or exceed expectations? Will Kerry? Who will fall flat?
Those are the storylines that come out of debates…No one remembers who said what about the issues…that’s the reality.
What Kerry did on “Regis and Kelly” is set an absurdly low bar for Bush for the debates. After his crack, if Bush shows up and doesn’t make a pratfall his campaign will be able to declare victory. Kerry’s ineptitude has made it impossible for his surrogates to set a high bar for Bush because every rejoinder to their attempt will include Kerry’s own words mocking Bush’s upcoming performance.
Meanwhile the Bush campaign highlights Kerry’s track record of successful debate performances, and Kerry’s campaign will have a tough time exceeding expectations.
Is that a position that a man already down significantly in the polls and needing slam-dunk debate victories should be putting himself in?
He may have gotten a laugh out of Regis, but I can guarantee you that his staff wasn’t laughing backstage while Bush’s staffers were applauding loudly…

Hmmm…so you think Bush is the smarter candidate Jim? Interesting. Do you think he had a military career too?
Don’t know if you saw Bush’s appearance at the UN today, but he had the same blank stare as he did reading My Pet Goat.
