BOBs

: Deutsche Welle, the German broadcaster, is holding a contest to name the best international blogs. As Loic points out, it’s odd that they don’t include French — and do include English as well as Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese and Arabic. Too bad not Persian or Polish or, hell, Icelandic. It’s only so international.

It was surprising (and gratifying) to see Deutsche Welle advertising on Wonkette last week. I guess bloggers are important to them in several ways.

I was watching cspan this afternoon and you were on a panel of bloggers talkinga bout the effects of blogging on the political arena.
I really enjoyed your perspective on things, and appreciated your insight. I do not think that most people understand the impact that blogs are having. The statements you made about blogs creating a great sense of community are, in my humble opinion, right on the money.
I have, because of my own private blog, a group
of friends that I have never met that share
a common sense of community because of either our
political views or our religeous beliefs. I am a part of several political, religeous, and religeous political bloggs. I follow several different news feeds through my blog, and I participate in many different online conversations, so the idea of the conversation broadening is, to me, exactly the reason that this will create such a HUGE impact on the political arena because people through these blogs
are better able to communicate with others of like minds and differing views.
I’ve also noted that we are able to keep up with news at the speed of net through our communities as one of us is ALWAYS monitoring the events of the day.
You and I have very differing political, and I would wager religeous views, but I have found
your commentary very entertaining AND accurate.
    Thank you.
by the way, if you bother to open my blog,
and you’re wondering why it’s locked down
it is my personal journal and as it used to be
    public
some of my more liberal aquaintences decided to
start posting my journal all over the internet
to cause me trouble. I am sorry it is locked down,
but I’m thankful that lj has that function.
    Thank you for your time
