Stop the presses: I just posted this!

: By odd accident, I found this press release on GoogleNews from a guy announcing that he’d just posted his 100th blog post! Surprised he didn’t give the exclusive to Dan Rather. My favorite bit:

While no one has called him – yet – with a film offer such as happened to the famed ‘Baghdad blogger’, Addicott says he has been approached with a book deal but for now will make no commitments while the company’s services are in rapid growth mode – referring those requests to the Company’s scientific advisors.

And I’m going to send out a press release saying that no one has yet offered me a National Book Award… because I haven’t written a book.

The guy sounds like a creep, but Jarvis also sounds like a pro blogger goofing on a less-than-pro blogger…which is to say, we’ve got dueling creeps. Let them kill each other as BuzzMachine fades into elitist idiocy…

As it turns out, the self-promoting creep is pro enough to charge for his information, which seems to actually have some value. Meanwhile, Jarvis (aka the other self-promoting creep) easily dashes out several hundred free posts in which he blindly and blandly spews out the same misinformation we get from the mainstream media. Yeah, that’s some high ground Jarvis has got there.

Surely that’s a typo. Might have been 1000 posts or somesuch?

That’s hilarious. And chill out people, I’m pretty sure both Jeff and this blogger were entirely joking.
Anyone can get anything on the PR Newswire. I’m always amused when people cite to it as news (for example, the press release announcing Andy Kaufman’s return a while back). I’ll have to start issuing press releases when I go out to eat: Tex-Mex Milestone: BTD Greg has just ordered his 100th cheese enchilada platter!

    Thought it was pretty funny.
Why are people so nasty all of a sudden? This is an interesting blog. So big deal you don’t agree with everything Jeff writes. There are tons of other blogs out there. Go someplace else.
If you want to get nasty with people go read DU or one of the Indymedia sites and make a comment. That is, if they let you. DU and Indymedia are not known for tolerating viewpoints that don’t agree with their own.

Easy Jeff, it’s an Alzheimer’s blog. If the guy didn’t send out a press release, he’d probably forget how many posts he’d done and have to start counting all over again.
