Friends
: I finally got to meet Hossein Derakhshan, aka Hoder, the man who started the Iranian blog revolution. We should have met twice before, at each of the Bloggercons, where Hoder was an invited guest but he couldn’t come because it takes months to get a visa to the U.S. But now I’m in Toronto and we meet.
It never ceases to amaze me how this weblog thing can create connections, conversations, and friendships that never could have occurred otherwise. He’s an Iranian expat and I’m an American and now we’re colleagues and friends. I’ve learned a great deal from him, about weblogs and community and Iran and that part of the world. I just hope a room filled with journalism geeks didn’t bore him to tears yesterday.
