I have a headache
: Stephen Hawking says he was wrong about black holes:
‘I’ve been thinking about this problem for the last 30 years, and I think I now have the answer to it,’ he told the BBC’s Newsnight programme on Thursday. ‘A black hole only appears to form but later opens up and releases information about what fell inside. So we can be sure of the past and predict the future.’
I have no idea what he’s talking about.
This was the old theory:
Black holes are famous for sucking in everything around them
Basic idea: This is a longstanding problem–how to integrate General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. Black holes are one phenomena where the two have problems coexisting, and Hawking claims to have produced a way to get the two to agree.
According to the new theory, something gets out
Has anyone formulated a theory in which theoretical FTL particles are continuously being released from a black hole?

I “read” a Hawking book once (audiobook), and I think I grasped about 10% of it. Which still increased my knowledge of physics significantly.
Mindboggling.
