F em

F em

: Go to GoogleNews and search on “emmy” and you’ll find no shortage of (meaningless) complaints about the (meaningless) awards: which shows were robbed. Well, here’s mine (and my office colleagues’): Deadwood. My colleague Peter Hauck thinks Hollywood just doesn’t get it. I also think they’d be afraid to award a show that says the F word so often (to be precise: 831 per season, 69.3 per episode, 1.23 per minute).

Jeff, first comment on your blog. Love the Daily Stern moment, BTW.
Maybe it’s just that the appeal of the Sopranos has worn off somewhat over the years, but Deadwood is the best of the HBO originals at the moment. Although the Wire comes in a close second in my opinion.
I hadn’t seen the Emmy nominations, but to exclude Deadwood is pathetic.

Actually, Jeff, you’ll find the use of “cocksucker” in the script far outweighs the use of “fuck.” And for anyone who has not seen the show yet, it already ranks as one of the top ten productions ever – EVER- on TV. At least, that’s this cocksucker’s opinion.

Any cocksucker would know that if you dont like Deadwood, you need your throat cut and then have your body thrown to the pigs. If a show that routinely dismisses the romatic view of the west cant win an emmy, then I say fuck the cocksuckers! Man, I do love that show, Unionists, Squareheads and all.

Deadwood got what, 11 nominations? Some of them are relatively minor technical awards, but they’re up for best directing & best writing… that isn’t so bad for a series in its first year. In fact, only two series, the Sopranos (20) and West Wing (12) got more nominations.
I do think Ian McShane should’ve been nominated, but was glad to see Brad Dourif and Robin Weigert get the nod. Love those cocksuckers.
I heartily agree that Deadwood was the best thing on television so far this year. (Sopranos started weak, finished strong, but Deadwood was compelling from start to finish.)
