Run, mate?

Run, mate?

: A PR person for Business Week sends news of its latest online poll re Cheney: “Almost 60% of respondents say that President Bush should find a new running mate to replace Dick Cheney while almost 35% say no (about 5% undecided).” It’s one of those easily stackable polls, so who knows. But it’s interesting nonetheless that this is the response at Business Week.

I tend to believe instead an editorial cartoon I saw this week: A reporter is asking Bush with Cheney are asked about changing running mates and Cheney says he’d never get rid of his little buddy George.

Their relationship from the beginning has been weird. Cheney as we may remember headed up the search party for W.’s running mate before handing in his recommnedation that it be himself. I’ve tried to do similar things when applying for jobs, but for some reason they balk at me deciding whether I’ll get the job or not.

Despite its business subject, Business Week is just as drearily leftist and suspicious of business as the rest of the media. This doesn’t surprise me given the source.

It could well be that some Demos and Repubs both want Cheney in. demos believe Cheney is divisive and will help them. hard core Repubs like him

Seems to be a case of advanced paranoia at work here.
    — Firstly, this is a poll, so the source would not be BWeek, but whoseover answered the poll
    — Secondly, theres no reason to assume that only people who want Bush to lose would suggest dumping Cheney, as would be the case if your so-called explanation made any sense.
    — Most importantly though, this is an ONLINE poll. They are completely and totally unreliable.

No reason for Bush, or Cheney, to panick. Let the Dems have their convention. Fight like hell up to the Reps convention. If Bush is in big trouble at than point, he could create a tremendous charge by having Cheney pull out and putting in someone enormously exciting, like perhaps Guilliani, who will be there as a featured speaker and who might easily get swept up in the excitement of it all.

Replacing Cheney is just a fantasy. Everyone knows who call the shots in this White House. There could not be a more obvious admission of failure.
To the extent the Dems are playing it up as their bug fear … well, did you ever read about Brer rabbit?
