: Marketwatch’s Steve Gelsi writes about the marketing potential of blogs.
Kevin Howard, director of media for Avenue A NYC, a unit of AQuantitive (AQNT: news, chart, profile), said marketers are “salivating” over bloggers because they’re seen as trend setters.
“If they can get these people to start talking about their products, it can hopefully spread out into the masses,” said Howard, who sees strong niche potential for blogger ads. “Down the road, Google and Microsoft will get smart about it and figure how to make it a valuable proposition.”
Madison Avenue is paying close attention to Nike’s blogger-ad push, timed to coincide with the start of the Olympics.
“They’re involving the community and getting them excited about allowing them to be part of this experience,” Howard said. “We do see blogging as an opportunity for some of our clients to branch out down the road.”

Loic presented. He summarized it on his blog… unfortunately (for me) in French.
