The vast blog conspiracy

The vast blog conspiracy

: Strange column by Paul Carr in the Guardian launches off on a silly local Fox TV “report” that makes fun of blogs; we’ve seen that plenty, Lord knows, but this becomes a convenient launching pad to argue there’s a vast right-wing conspiracy against blogs, thus positioning the column’s world view: that blogs are the salvation of the left and that Air America is blog-brilliant. If he turned down the volume below 11, there might be a point here, but it’s hard to hear it over the speaker distortion.

This is especially amusing in light of all the head-scratching over why the blogosphere seems to lean right. A vast right-wing conspiracy against the right-wing blogosphere? Well, I guess if you think the VRWC is full of idiots, then the VWRC scrambling to discredit Instapundit might just make sense.

The only point that emerges is that big media continues to display astonshing cluelessness even about subjects where jouranlists don’t even have to bestir themselve from their desks to do their research. Most big media have been clueless about the internet for a decade now, and Paul Carr simply demonstrates this cluelessness- or put another way Paul Carr is both clueless about the cluelessness he is reporting on and is as clueless as those he is accusing. His obvious left wing bias, to the point of hyperblic boosterism, at least makes this artical enjoyable – in the way that it enjoyable to see people one disagrees with make idiots of themselves.
FYI this guy has expressed his wish to see someone shoot Bush in the head.

Johan, I wouldn’t take the shoot bush in the head thing too seriously. You’re otm about the confusion. I’m a regular Guardian reader in the paper form and this writer isn’t really anything. He’s tucked away at the back and his pieces are only interesting for their stlye: they ramble away, courting the blogging community in one breath and trying to make himself look bigger than them in the next. Or you could play Spot The Plug for his own ventures in pay-for blogs. But as I said it’s probbly better to just ignore it.
