One of my dad’s first jobs was distributing pints of whiskey to voters on election day for the Republican machine in St. Louis (when there was a Republican machine in St. Louis). He couldn’t have been more than five at the time.

Gin! Maybe in a Martini but straight shots of cheap gin aren’t going to cut it. A nice brandy or a good single malt scotch would be better. Perhaps a good cigar to go with it.
