Assigning citizen journalists

Assigning citizen journalists

: When I saw a story the other day about a media outlet encouraging citizens to send in photos of tornadoes, I wasn’t the only one who was worried that this might endanger those citizens.

Don’t worry, people who chase tornados would do it whether someone would publish the photos or not. It’s just so damn exciting. (unless it’s heading for your house).

Let see, you’re worried that a request by a media outlet to send photos of tornatos might endanger those citizens? Wow, it’s like the whole country, and particularly Republicans, are consumed with this “safety of citizens” thing. It’s become a mantra. We’re not even people any more, but “citizens,” and safety is more important than “anything.” Thankfully, this wasn’t the mood throughout history when great explorers took death-defying risks to advance knowledge.
My opinion: I don’t care if someone wants photograph tornatos or surf in hurricanes, as long as they don’t hurt or seriously endanger someone else in doing so. Frankly, (I know this sounds callous) I don’t care if they’re killed doing it either. As long as they were exercising there own free will.
There a bronz plaque at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty with the words of Ben Franklin: “Those who would trade freedom for safety deserve neither.”
The days of manliness are truely gone, we’re now in the age of the “baby” and the “wus.” And it’s the Republican at the movement’s van guard.
