Appled, piece by piece

Appled, piece by piece

: I can’t wait to get the new Apple Airport Express. It took a few reads of the site to figure out all it can do for me:

I can be untethered in hotel rooms.

I can use multiple laptops in hotel rooms.

I can wirelessly play music from a computer on any stereo in the house.

I can extend my wireless network.

First, I got the iPod. Now this. Before long, I’ll be an Apple customer again.

ASUS makes a very nice portable (tiny, same size as the Apple extender, smaller than a cigarette pack) 802.11b access point and extender that only costs $70. Doesn’t do the music thing, however. It’s sold as the WL-330.

Every hotel I stay in now has wireless. I’m already untethered.

    Again, so can I.

With one express for every stereo. You also have to run all the way back to your computer every time you want to change songs. Squeezebox, the PC version, comes with an RF remote.

So can I, I can setup every wireless laptop and computer in my house to act as extender. I don’t though because slickdeals.net has a $20 extender about every other week. My house is lousy with them.
