Good riddance to bad cowboy rubbish!
Lots of class there JM. Luckily, you represent the base of today’s Dem party. Which is why GWB will win in November. American voters don’t dig your hate and anger. Please keep it up!

The plutocratic conservatives realized that it was too dangerous to have a candidate who could think on his own, ie, Nixon. So, they came up with the scarecrow/cowboy, Howdy-Doody puppet with the idiot grin who could serve their purposes better. (A little shoe polish in the hair doesn’t hurt either.)
Cowboy Ronnie paved the way for the S&L scandal, so that the government could throw hundreds of billion of dollars into the plutocrats’ pockets in the form of a “bailout.” Meanwhile, ketchup becomes a vegetable so some school kid doesn’t get a few extra cents of free food.
The scarecrow conveniently never had any knowledge of Iran/Contra. The legacy of Nicaragua is now in Iraq.
Do yourselves a favor; look behind the cardboard cutout; see what’s propping up these puppets.
The S&L “Scandal” [and most of the ‘culprits’ were Democrats] was caused by a significant change in property depreciation laws that made lots of buildings suddenly bad investments at the new rate. Under the old rate they were profitable investments.
The scandal was changing tax law without consideration of the effect on business.
Reagan should have vetoed the Bolen ammendment out of hand and had Bolen tossed in prison for treason.

Jeff;
In a recent post, you added your support to a claim made by Republican operative John Podhoretz that NJ should now be considered a “swing state” in the upcoming presidential elections. This apparently was largely or entirely inspired by the Quinnipiac poll showing an unexpectedly small gap between Kerry and Bush in “solid blue” NJ.
Well, one of the reasons I didn’t agree with either of you was because, as a resident of NJ myself, I was well aware that the state legislature had recently turned more Democratic after the spring elections, and I viewed this as a much better measure of the sentiments of NJ voters than a single poll. In fact after pointing this out in your comments here last month I poked around your site a bit and was a little surprised to find that you are also a NJ resident. So were probably well aware of this.
Anyway, to the point. I’d like to direct your attention to a new poll that shows Kerry with a 12 point lead over Bush. This is more in keeping with many other NJ polls in the past 3-4 months.
Perhaps you and Podhoretz were jumping the gun a little on what was likely an outlyer result that seems to have (wishfully?) been interpreted as a trend?
Just thought I’d bring this to your attention.
Just keep the drooling moonbattery coming, boys! We’ll get a repeat of that Reagan second-term landslide yet. I’d almost think you were Republican party shills.
tony — five words and only one mistake.
Please look up ‘censor’.
Back on topic: Jeff, thanks for the MaroonBlog link.
I suppose I should be shocked and outraged that a handful of nutjobs have chosen to speak ill of President Reagan – but I’m not.
President Reagan proved his nuclear-freeze, tax-obsessed opponents wrong time and again; and he did it with a smile on his face. Even the most vitriolic haters on the political scene have spoken of the man’s genuine appeal and his authenticity as a human being.
You may not have liked his politics but wishing him ill just shows you as beneath even my contempt – the black hole that is your soul must feel a very empty place indeed.
You are beyond pity if you cannot feel for the loss of his family, the loss of this country, and the loss of those millions around the world who owe their freedom to his fortitude and vision.
Sad.
You can leave condolences here if you wish.

“Good riddance to bad cowboy rubbish!”
Spoken like a true Frenchman!
“…the Presidents and Prime Ministers of the free world had decided that the unfree world was not a prison ruled by a murderous ideology that had to be defeated but merely an alternative lifestyle that had to be accommodated. Under cover of
Maybe we should take a moment to remember the tens of thousands murdered at his bidding in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Libya etc, the millions of Americans who languished in poverty while he provided tax cuts for the rich, the racial and sexual minorities persecuted while he was Governor of California, the colleagues whose lives he ruined by collaborating with the McCArthy witch-hunts and so on and so on.
Even so, alzheimer’s is a horrible way to go – prolonged and gradual loss of dignity in the eyes of your family. i loathe 99% of what regan did while he was president, but i wouldn’t wish alzheimer’s on anyone.
“tens of thousands… murdered at his bidding”
“millions of Americans languished in poverty while he provided tax cuts for the rich”
“racial and sexual minorities persecuted while he was Governor of California”
You aren’t old enough to remember the 80s, are you pele?
Sorry, I’m not talking to you. You’ll only start ranting again!
Yes, pele, there were no bad Sandinistas murdering thousands and imprisoning thousands more while trying to set up a Soviet-Cuban client state in Nicaragua. And, there were no bad guys in the other places, either. Just that old cowboy Reagan shooting indiscriminantly and killing everyone in site.
Partial blindness can be a bitch, I hear.
