Revenge of the youth

: A letter writer in my town’s local, fuddy-duddy, weekly newspaper went onto Xanga to see what these kids today are up to and came back shouting there’s trouble, right here in River City! It starts with B and ends with G and rhymes with, uh, agog!

But thanks to the wonders of online interactivity, the kids fought back. [Link via my son; I’m not including names of kids, schools, or towns in this.] First, the letter writer:

How ’bout Charles Gibson, at 8:00 in the AM, prodding teens (sorry about the WC) about their having oral sex to save their virginity (or was that just a bad dream?).
Anyway, the “Music Man” bit had me laughing so hard my head hit my keyboard cmnokds’jdvopa.

“Cursing is the crutch of the conversational cripple.”
I love it, if the adults have no problem cursing in front of me, why shouldn’t I??
It is called being a parent and monitoring your mouth and everyone else under your roof.
Otherwise, you’ll get 6 y.o. in the middle of either The Swan or Dolphin at WDW yelling at the top of his lungs F.U. to his father as his father is walking away. That is just soooo cute, isn’t it?
True story, my parents were on the Mezzanine.

If they’re so bored why don’t they get off their asses and do something? They’re complaining because the 3 activities that they want to do (and only 3) are not instantly available. How about painting an old lady’s house (my sister and I did that one summer)? Taking a long walk-I’ll bet the mall is within walking distance for a 16 year old. At university, I, a 50’ish arthritic *with a cane* zoom past the kids moaning and groaning about a 1/2 mile walk from the parking lot). Reading a book. Happiness, optimism, and non-boredom come from inside, not activities, and usually from thinking of someone besides yourself.

Things cost more than they used to!
    Young people use curse words!
We young people should look to the wisdom of older generations, who gave us Colored drinking fountains and turd-green kitchen appliances.
